The highest number of participation in a rating tournament in India is witnessed at National School Championship. On an average the participation is anything above 1000 or 1500. However, the Hanoi Open Rapid Championship 2024 witnessed a record participation of nearly 2400 players. There were various starting from Under-5. The other categories were – Under-6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 15 for both Boys and Girls. About 2400 players take part
The Hanoi Open Rapid Chess Championship was held on 11th November 2024 at the Hanoi Indoor Athletics Palace. Look at the number of sponsors that stepped forward once again in support of chess! No less than 2388 players representing over 100 chess clubs took part – a record turnout even by the high standards in Vietnam of recent years – in this eight round event that was brilliantly organised by the Organizing Committee: Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Vietnam Chess Federation and Future Grandmasters Club.
